  1. This README file of BELW16.ZIP accompanies BELOW16.DSK for NetWare
  2. v3.10.  The following files are included for this revision:

  6. This file is for DMA LAN adapters and Disk Controllers with 24 bit
  7. address lines that require memory allocation below 16 MB.  This
  8. module provides developers with two function calls under NetWare
  9. v3.10 to guarantee allocation of memory under 16 Mb.
  10.  
  11. When installing this file be aware of the following issues:
  12.  
  13.      1.  BELOW16.DSK must be loaded before any other module.
  14.      2.  By default BELOW16 allocates 8 buffers (the default buffer
  15.      size is 4096 bytes as defined in "Cache Buffer Size").  To
  16.      over-ride the number of buffers, the following syntax may be
  17.      used in STARTUP.NCF: 
  18.  
  19.           LOAD BELOW16 number
  20.  
  21.      where "number" is the number of buffers.  Changes to the
  22.      number of buffers allocated should only be made at the
  23.      recommendation of the manufacturer.

  25. To install this version of BELOW16.DSK:
  26.  
  27. 1) Copy BELOW16.DSK into the directory that contains your disk
  28.    driver(s).
  29.  
  30. 2) Edit STARTUP.NCF to include a statement to load BELOW16.DSK. 
  31.    REMEMBER: BELOW16.DSK must be loaded before any other modules!

  33. 3) Down the server and bring it back up.
